Cheri + Steve's day-after shoot

We met Steve and Cheri for an extra photo shoot the day after their wedding. We started at the lovely Classical Chinese Garden in Old Town and then ended the shoot at the Pittock Mansion. It was nice to get a little extra time with these two and to photograph Cheri in her purple gown.

Cheri and Steve were married this past Fourth of July at the Abernathy Center in Oregon City. The day had perfectly overcast skies which are perfect for us photographers! As you can see Cheri is absolutely stunning. Not only is she gorgeous, but she is the sweetest bride ever! I just loved being around her all day. Cheri and Steve did nothing but enjoy one another and have a great time with their friends and family. Their easy going and kind personalities led to a smooth, relaxed and romantic day. One of the best moments to experience was when Steve got to see his bride for the first time. To say the least, he was completely taken back by his bride. They laughed, hugged and even danced a little, acting as if we weren't even there. They seemed to just be lost in the moment with one another. It was really sweet.

Sarah and Lee just booked us for their 2011 wedding next summer. They are both moving to Alaska this month so we went ahead and did their engagement shoot before the big trip. They live in the Gorge and both love the outdoors so we went out to the Vista House in Corbett. As you can see, the view is amazing up there! After we got our fill of the beautiful scenery from above, we headed down the road to Bridal Veil Falls. It's a perfect little hike down to the falls. Sarah and Lee trekked around the bottom of the falls and even went out into the river for some shots.

We loved their playful personalities. They were so comfortable and happy together. Despite how it can be a little weird to have your photo taken, Lee managed to smile and laugh through the process which kept us all having a good time.

As I finished up working on Laurel and Matt's wedding photos, I realized the bright, vibrant, colorful photos reflect this couple perfectly. These two are so full of life and laughter. The entire day was playful, fun and colorful.

The bride and groom session was a little out of the ordinary. As soon as we started to work with them alone, Laurel made a comment about how it'd be cool to have her dad's gun for some photos. Me: "your dad has a gun? here? now? lets do it!" First ever photos with a bride and a gun. I think they're pretty fun :) Then, as we headed towards a red barn on the property, a giant, yes GIANT, turkey began to follow us. Thankfully Laurel's dad was close by to scare the huge bird away so we could take some photos. Definitely some unique photos for these two.

The day transformed into a huge dance party. The dance floor was packed and everyone was having so much fun. As you can see, even Laurel's grandma Thelma was out on the dance floor living it up! Great people and a fun couple. Congrats to Laurel and Matt!

Jen and Ben were married last month out at the gorgeous Zenith Vineyard outside of Salem Oregon. These two are sweet and light hearted. Looking over these photos made me smile time and again. Some of the most touching moments of the day were when Jen's father saw her for the first time as a bride, and another sweet moment was when tears began flowing as they read their vows to one another. Jen was by far one of the most giddiest and most excited brides I've seen! She was so full of smiles and laughter before the ceremony. Once the ceremony was all said and done, her nerves subsided and it was clear she was so happy to be with her groom. Jen and Ben take good care of one another and make eachother laugh so much. One last moment that I loved to photograph was during the bride and groom photo session. The couple wanted to practice their first dance. It made for some great photos as the sun flairs sparked over the roof of the barn we were using for a backdrop.

Deann and Bill are great friends of ours. I graduated the same year as Deann at OSU in the graphic design program. In fact, I remember meeting Bill for the first time before they were even officially dating! It's weird to see how fast time flies.

When they got engaged a couple months ago Deann called to tell me by saying "we have a wedding for you to shoot!" I immediately said "whos?" thinking she would say a friend or coworker was going to hire us. She then responded excitedly "OURS!!" I was and still am so happy for the both of them. They have been dating for years and we all knew they were headed for marriage, it was just a matter of when. Bill caught her completely by surprise and proposed on a snow-shoeing adventure. As you can see, Deann is full of laughter and smiles. She has been even more so since they got engaged. We are so honored to be apart of their day in a couple months. It is bound to be a fun night!

Evan and Kathleen were married just a couple weeks ago down at the Hanson Country Inn in Corvallis. It is a gorgeous and quaint little venue. I love shooting there because the bed and breakfast is great for the getting ready shots and then the ceremony and reception are tucked in the shade of some tall trees. Just outside of the lawn area, there are fields of tall grass that are great for photos. As you can see, we even found a huge patch of daisies.

I loved all of the personality they infused into their day. Their rings were very unique. They were made from salvaged wood and turquoise. Kathleen also won first place for the most unique shoes I've seen at a wedding. They were made from old magazines. SO cool! As the night came to a close, their guests lined up with sparklers and saw them off. It made for some great shots. It was truly a pleasure working with these two. They are so insanely in love and take great care of one another. Couples like them make our job so easy and fun! Congrats to you Evan and Kathleen!

Chris and Carolyn met up with me at my office inside the Union Station in downtown Portland. We headed up into the Pearl district and tried to capture an urban scape for the shoot. They wanted a contrast to the lush green setting of Champoueg Park where all of their wedding photos will be taken. They may have been a little nervous going into the shoot, but you would never know it from the huge smiles on their faces. I hardly had to pose them as they laughed and enjoyed one another during the shoot. Towards the end of the evening we headed up to the Broadway bridge to capture some of the Portland cityscape. All three of us love Portland so it was a nice was to wrap up the shoot. I will be seeing these two again in a few short weeks for their wedding!

Kirstyn + Troy's engagement

I met up with Kirstyn and Troy recently for their engagement shoot. We started on Mississippi Street in North Portland and then ended up in some industrial areas just down the road. The light from the setting sun was beautiful. Along with some spots I already knew, we managed to find several new locations I had never shot at before. I loved the field of grass with the tire swing hanging in the background. That was an awesome find for us!

As you can see in the photos, Kirstyn and Troy laugh and enjoy being together. They hardly needed direction from me as they continued to keep one another laughing and smiling. I'm looking forward to their wedding this fall out at one of my favorite venues - Edgefield McMenamins. I'm sure it will be a gorgeous wedding!

I met Monica and Chris for the first time at their engagement shoot up at Mount Hood. We were all surprised to find the mountain still completely covered in snow! It was a gorgeous day, over 60 degrees and bright blue skies. We did a little photographing in and around the Timberline Lodge and then we headed down the road to Trillium Lake. There was a clear shot of the mountain right over the vibrant blue lake. It was so so gorgeous. Monica and Chris brought along their sweet and super cute dog Buddah. He was given many treats during the shoot and cooperated perfectly. As you can see he even smiled in some of the photos.

Monica and Chris still have this entire summer to get through before they get married in October. Looking forward to photographing their big day in a few months. Until then, I will keep posting a ton on here as summer is now in full swing!

Saint Cupcake has been friends with Honeysuckle for years now! It's been fun working with them over the years on a couple product photography shoots. They updated some products that they offer in their online shop so I photographed some new sprinkle combinations (my favorite!), along with some new cupcake flavors and packaging options. Just had to share some of the vibrant photos. I loved all the color!

Julie + Thanh's wedding

Julie and Thanh were married just over two weeks ago here in Portland. They held two ceremonies in one another's homes to start the day and then we headed over to Saint Stephen's Catholic Church in SE for a full mass ceremony. The night ended with a huge, gorgeous reception at the Governor Hotel in downtown.

The bride was so sweet! It was a pleasure getting to know her throughout the process of planning and then photographing her wedding. Not only was she warm and welcoming to us, but so was Thanh, as well as all of their friends and family. It always makes the day go smoothly and the photos have a more personal touch when we are welcomed into the celebration as guests.

The day was filled with lots of laughter and it was so apparent how in love these two were with one another. The day was made perfect by our good friend and talented makeup artist Nicole Wagner. We also had the privilege of working with one of the best videographer's in town: Travis Shield's of Shields Films

Jaci and Nick were married just a couple weeks ago at the Oregon Country Club. The day was stunning, the wedding party was fun, and the bride and groom were so happy to be getting married. The day started with champagne toasts for the ladies and cigars for the guys in their separate rooms. I learned at their engagement shoot that Jaci and Nick met and fell for one another while studying for a test together in college, so it was fitting that they would be passing notes between their rooms on the morning of their wedding. Nick playfully passed one note asking if his bride would marry him... check yes or no... She said yes.

The reception was a huge party thrown by my favorite DJ in town - Shawn Whittemore of Event Team Entertainment. He always knows how to get everyone on the dance floor and keeps the night flowing perfectly. They ended the night surrounded by guests holding candles in a final dance as bride and groom.

We've managed to avoid the Portland weather for years during my photo shoots, but yesterday was an exception. The adorable couple, Julie and Thanh, showed up looking stunning in their wedding clothes only to have it pouring rain all over our city! We originally planned an all outdoor shoot, but we could only do so many photos under bridges on the east side. After we got some umbrella photos, we headed to The Nines hotel downtown. The lobby made for a great backdrop for the rest of the shoot. Julie and Thanh are getting married tomorrow! Can't wait to post more from these two!

05.22.10 ~ Jake + Crystal's wedding

Jake and Crystal were married just over a week ago at the beautiful David Hill Winery in Forest Grove. It had been an unusual day with the weather. Dark clouds kept rolling in and pouring rain in between the moments of sunshine and blue skies. Crystal and Jake wanted to be married out on the lawn, and thankfully they got their wish. Just in time for photos and the ceremony, the sky was bright blue and the sun kept us warm.

These two are so completely in love and treat one another with kindness and care. It was truly a pleasure being invited to photograph their wedding. Some memorable moments were when Jake saw his bride for the first time. They both had the biggest smiles on their faces and you could see how happy they were to be together as a bride and groom on their wedding day. Another sweet moment was during the ceremony when both of them fought back tears as they recited their vows. It was really touching.

So it officially feels like wedding season is here! I love getting back into the swing of things. Crystal and Jake's wedding was a great way to kick off my summer! Congrats you two!

Baby Cheyanne and Glacier National Park

I took this last week off to drive out and meet my friend's new baby Cheyanne. I've known Amy since 6th grade and despite moving around to different states, (and even different countries), we have always kept in touch. She is one of those people in life that I can go months without talking to, but the second we connect, it feels as if no time has passed. It was so wonderful to meet her sweet little baby girl. Not only is she as cute as can be, but she is a really happy easy-going kiddo.

Amy lives right at one of the many entrances to Glacier National Park in Montana. If you have not been there, it is the most gorgeous landscape I have ever seen and it is definitely worth the trip! On my first day, we headed up north into the Canadian section of the park which is where I got the shot of the three of us. The trip was super relaxing and I wish I could have stayed longer. Hopefully I will make it out there again soon.

Oh, and the last shot is for my fellow Oregonians. We are tortured with 55-65mph speed limits here AND everyone is a super slow driver on top of that. Once I crossed into Montana, I was so thrilled at the 75mph speed limit that I ended up going a little bit faster than I should have. oooops!

Baby Caleb

This last year has been filled with meeting babies of my past wedding clients. I love that my clients keep in touch! Caleb is the son of Shannon and Long. I photographed their wedding in 2007. I can't believe how time flies. As you can see they look great and now they have an adorable little boy! I posted the photo of him standing on the grass because he had never felt grass before this photo shoot. His reaction was really cute. He was a little hesitant at first when they sat him down. So they stood him up and as you can see, he just looked back down at the strange new texture he discovered.

Zia + Brenda's wedding

Brenda and Zia held a simple, sweet and gorgeous wedding at the Washington Park Rose Garden. Though the roses weren't in bloom yet, there was still a ton of color in this wedding. Brenda chose the most beautiful bouquets, coral bridesmaid dresses and wore bright pink shoes! I loved how vibrant the day turned out to be. The ceremony was short and sweet and the tears flowed as they said their vows. Included in the guest list was Georgie the dog. She was all dressed up for the occasion and I had to snap some photos of her (see one below). Travis + Darcie's engagement

I need to start by saying I am so very thankful to be able to run my own business and have the clients that I have! I bring this up because I run Honeysuckle strictly on referrals. All of my clients come to me from previous brides and grooms as well as from other vendors in the wedding industry. This adds history and depth to the relationships I have with my couples, and I absolutely love it! Travis and Darcie come from a group of friends that I have shot over 6 weddings for in the last year. All of these couples live out in Forest Grove and I just love heading out there for photo shoots. It is stunning out West of Portland.

Travis and Darcie chose Hagg Lake for the backdrop of their engagement photos. Not only was it a great place for the shoot, but we found out at the end of the evening that it was where they went on their first date! I love asking about how couples meet and fall in love, so we ended the shoot sitting on the bank of the lake as Travis and Darcie told us their story. It made for some cute photos as they smiled and laughed as they recalled the details of how they ended up where they are today. Congrats to this sweet couple! Looking forward to the wedding in August!

Baby Ava

I met Meggan, Robert and thier new baby girl Ava 2 days ago in my office. Ava is only a few weeks old. As you can see, she is super precious. A head full of brown hair, bright blue eyes, and I saw her dimples every once and a while. She is a super sweet and beautiful little girl! It was a pleasure working with this new family.

Theo turned 3!

I was contacted once again by the lovely Jami Curl (owner of Saint Cupcake)to photograph her family as her one and only little boy turned three this past month! We have had a tradition to do a family shoot around his birthday for three years now! Well, two years have passed, but I have done three birthday photos shoots, starting when he turned one. Did you get that math?

This was the first time that Theo was aware of my camera and that it meant he would proudly look right into my lens and smile for me! It made my heart melt when he would say "cheeeeese!" We had a ton of fun wandering around some industrial areas in NW Portland and then we ended the evening at Sauvie Island where we explored a grassy field and had a picnic. The balloons were meant to be in more photos, but Theo was worried they would fly away (don't we all worry about that when it comes to our balloons!). It took a lot of convincing for him to finally hold one balloon at the very end of the shoot. It was worth the wait. Thanks Theo! It has been so fun documenting you over the years. Can't wait for the next shoot!

tulips and John Day

I had an unusual break from photoshoots and weddings these past two weeks. It was perfect timing because wedding season is just around the corner. It has been great to rest up before I get super busy in the coming months. I finally got my hands on one of Nikons best lenses last week! I now own a 24-70 2.8. I love love LOVE it! Here are some landscapes I captured with it at the Woodburn Tulip Festival and then out at John Day Fossil Beds in central Oregon. Many photo shoots and weddings are scattered on my calendar in the coming weeks and months so stay tuned for your regularly scheduled Honeysuckle blogging :)

Mike + Danielle's engagement shoot

Yesterday evening, Brian and I met up with Mike and Danielle for their engagement photos. We all wandered around downtown, headed towards the waterfront and then ended up over on the East side of the river for some shots of the cityscape. When we first met last week to discuss the shoot, it was very clear they both love Portland so it made for the perfect setting.

These two are so madly in love which is always great for photos, but it also helped that Mike knew exactly what to do and say to keep us all laughing. Danielle always had a huge smile on her face. There were a couple times when we would tell Mike to be serious for a photo, but that would make all of us crack up even more when he put on a serious face. One of my favorite moments was when Mike and Danielle sat on the waterfront and described their first kiss which Danielle wasn't quite ready for at the time. Malone family at the Woodburn Tulip Festival

Brian and I headed down to the Woodburn Tulip Festival yesterday afternoon. I've had the pleasure of getting to know Brian's family these past few months. His sister Jeni and her husband Andy have the cutest two boys Skyler and Mason. They joined us at the festival so we could take some family photos. Jeni is the photographer in their family so it isn't often that she is in the photos with her boys or that they get a photo with all four of them together. Brian has been joining me at the last few photo shoots and he has made great use of my D200. I took so many of my favorite photos with that camera so it feels great to see it being used again. In fact, half of these shots are Brian's. He is becoming quite the photographer as you can tell. The weather was perfect and the fields of tulips went on forever! It was a fun afternoon.

Rachel + Rusty's engagement

I met up with Rachel and Rusty yesterday on Hawthorne Street in SE Portland. I had never done a photo shoot there so I was excited to go somewhere new! Hawthorne is a street that is oh so very Portland. If you ever need something to do, it's worth hanging out there just to watch people. We walked up and down between the 30-60th blocks. There were tons of great colors and textures to work with. All we had to deal with was the muggy warm air, which wasn't that big of a deal since we are all so happy to see the sun once again! Rachel and Rusty are getting married later this summer at the World Forestry Center.

p.s. I love my clients! I don't know if I say that enough. They are all really sweet, cool, funny people. This summer is going to be so fun when weddings start up next month!

Jake + Crystal's engagement

We met with Jake and Crystal last weekend for their engagement shoot out in Forest Grove. It is so beautiful out west of Portland. There are endless fields, wide open roads and beautiful rollings hills in the background. Crystal and Jake found me though several friends that I have worked with over the past 2 years. I LOVE my referral clients! They have already been able to see me work at weddings and have experienced my work through their friends' weddings. It's wonderful to already have a small history with a couple before getting to know them at their engagement shoot.

Crystal and Jake brought along their two dogs, Cedar and Lily, for the first part of the shoot. I love when couples do this on their engagement shoots because I have the same relationship with my own dog Sophie. She is definitely considered part of my family. Not to mention, dogs always make shoots that much more fun. After we walked around an orchard with the dogs, we headed to Mcmenamin's Grand Lodge. And yes, I managed to make it to two different Mcmenamin's in two days for photos! Love those properties, they are always fun to use for photo shoots.

Crystal and Jake are super sweet together. You can see how much they adore one another in photos. But trust me, they are just as cute together in real life. I love love! Looking forward to their wedding next month.

Jordan + Daniel's engagement

We met with Jordan and Daniel last Saturday out at Edgefield McMenamins in Troutdale. We had such a good time walking all around the property. It is by far one of my favorite locations to shoot at. Everywhere you go there is something great for photos! While they were changing into their second outfits, I was standing near a hedge lining a driveway. I had this totally random thought of sticking them in there for a photo. Now this is exactly why I love my clients! I mentioned it as soon as they walked up to me and without hesitation they both agreed to walk into this hedge for a photo. Random, but fun! Really looking forward to photographing these two again in October. It will be a fun day!

Ross + Lynsee's wedding

Lynsee and Ross were married last Saturday at the World Forestry Center. I had never shot a wedding there before and I loved the huge open room where the ceremony and reception was held. The room was packed with guests and the celebration went long into the night. A favorite moment from the day was when Lynsee and her bridesmaids set up an iPod with some speakers and began to dance, sing, and laugh, song after song. This was just minutes before she walked down the aisle. Another favorite moment was during the ceremony when their pastor read some notes he had taken after interviewing each of them about what qualities they love most in the other person. It was touching to see the looks on their faces as they heard these for the first time. And finally, I was so impressed by the toasts. Especially when Lynsee's dad spoke without having anything prepared. He made people laugh and also brought tears to everyone's eyes as he spoke about welcoming Ross into the family and trusting him to be a good husband to his daughter. I met Evan and Kathleen for the first time this last weekend and it got me so excited to shoot their wedding! This couple is way too sweet together. They were great people on their own accord, but as a pair, they made me smile behind my camera. We wandered around the OSU campus (my old stomping grounds!) on a perfectly sunny day. We ended the shoot up on Bald Hill just west of Corvallis. I loved how playful and sweet these two were together, it made the shoot very fun! Can't wait for their wedding in a few short months. I love my job and I love my clients!

Beth + Lee's engagement

I met Beth and Lee on Saturday down in Corvallis for their engagement shoot. They both live down there so we started the shoot in downtown to capture the city before heading out to Lee's family vineyard just north of Corvallis. I photographed Lee's brother's wedding last summer at the same vineyard, so I knew I was in for a treat. The vineyard property is stunning! There is a hill in the middle with several huge oak trees. This hill overlooks a gorgeous valley. I love the Oregon countryside, it is so stunning! They brought along their 13 week old puppy named Barley to the shoot. She is such a sweetie! She definitely had some crazy puppy energy and went on a couple runs around the vineyard while we were taking photos. Overall the day was perfect and I'm looking forward to shooting Beth and Lee's wedding in a few months.

I haven't posted about Kiersten in a long time! I had the pleasure of getting to see my 2-year old niece last week on a gorgeous day. Nicole (my sister) and I took Kiersten on a long walk in the sunshine. She is really starting to get silly and show her personality much more. She talks and talks, laughs and laughs, runs and runs, and even has a great sense of humor! Not that I was being funny... but at one point I said goodbye to a butterfly and she started cracking up. I loved that! I love this little girl.

Engagement season has officially hit! We have several more shoots lined up in the coming weeks now that the clouds have parted and the sun is showing its lovely face! We start off this string of shoots with Ashley and Tim. Shawn and I met up with them this last weekend and we all wandered around some industrial areas in NW Portland. We love shooting in industrial areas for good textures and colors. These two are really sweet together and we look forward to shooting their wedding in just a couple months.

Daily Diptych project

I am very excited to introduce you to a photo project I have been working on with friend and fellow photographer Cory Reed. We started Daily Diptych on January 1st this year and have a total of 79 photo diptychs completed and posted on our new website: http://dailydiptych.com. The website as you see it now is temporary and will be evolving in the coming weeks.

A little about the project: Every day we take a photo and chose one without knowing what the other photographer has shot that day. Then we put the two photos together and post them on this site daily. Cory is always on the left and I am always on the right. Along with this website, we plan on having gallery openings, press releases and a book out at the end of the year. Stop by the website and follow the project on twitter.

Heidi + Adam's wedding

Heidi and Adam were married last Saturday at the Hotel Deluxe. As you can see from the photos, all of Heidi and Adam's friends had cute kids! They made up the wedding party for the day! All of the girls got to wear bright pink and red tutus with matching sneakers. It was too cute. Right after the ceremony we all headed up to Heidi and Adam's hotel suite for some photos. The kids came along and went bonkers jumping on the bed! I will post some of those photos in the slideshow soon. The rest of the evening went perfectly as our great friends Shawn and Marc of Event Team Entertainment led the rest of the night with great music and entertainment for all of the guests. Congrats to the happy couple!

My cousin Mic and his gorgeous new wife Kate were married last month in Lake Tahoe, California. The ceremony took place on a lookout point at Emerald Bay. It was a stunning location for the ceremony! I can't think of a more gorgeous location for a wedding. The day was clear and sunny up until the ceremony and then a huge storm rolled in that snowed all over us! It made for some fun photos. After the ceremony, we headed into a casino for some fun. Mic and Kate even played Ski Ball and Air Hockey in an arcade. It was a fun, intimate wedding with Mic and Kate's closest friends and family and I was honored to have been asked to document the day!

I met up with Lynsee and Ross last week at Ross' family farm out in Forest Grove. We all couldn't believe the gorgeous weather we got after weeks of cloudy, rainy skies. The sun broke through and the bright blue sky was filled with beautiful fluffy clouds! When they brought me to the wheat field you see in the fist couple photos, my breath was taken away. What a gorgeous backdrop for their engagement shoot. We are only about a month out from Lynsee and Ross' wedding so stay tuned for photos from their big day in April.

Troy + Charla's wedding

Shawn and I had the pleasure of photographing Charla and Troy's wedding just over a week ago in Oregon City. It was a sweet candle-lit evening wedding. There was a pool room just off the main hall where we ended up taking the bride and groom portraits. Not only did it create a fun backdrop for the newlyweds, but it also kept all the kids entertained for the evening!

Charla and Troy are so in love and I couldn't be more happy for the two of them. This made for some touching moments like when Troy got choked up at the sight of his gorgeous bride walking down the aisle. This is why I love my job! Congrats to the happy newlyweds!

Sarina's Bat Mitzvah

Sarina's Bat Mitzvah was held just over a week ago in downtown Portland. Shawn and I photographed the reception at the Crown Ballroom. We hadn't been in there yet so it was fun to see the venue. The decor was gorgeous. The party was amazing. There was a great crowd with lots of dancing and laughing all night long! Congrats to Sarina!

I met Jennifer and Dennis last week at thier house in North Portland. We were so lucky to catch a break in the rain after days of no sunshine. As soon as the clouds broke, we headed over to Mississippi Street for the shoot. We found tons of colorful backdrops and interesting textures. I also had a fun time meeting and photographing their dog, Crawford. He was full of energy just like my little Sophie, but they had him well trained so he was great when it came time for photos. All in all, it was a great photo shoot to start off the new year!

Hello 2010!! I'm happy to have something to post on the first day of this year, and even better the first day of this decade! These last ten years went by way too fast, but I am so happy to be where I am, doing what I love! Here's to an even better 10 years ahead!

Laurel and Matt's engagement shoot was way too much fun. We headed down to the SE waterfront outside of Sellwood. We lucked out and found a ton of gorgeous fall colors after most of the leaves had already fallen around the city. After the waterfront, we headed up to Oaks Amusement Park. I had never even been there before so I wasn't sure what to expect. Once we walked in, we were all surprised to find no one was watching the property. We managed to hop into bumper cars and even climb up on the roller coaster without getting into trouble. It was so amazing! Definitely worth the risk. After all that fun, I am really excited to work with these two again in a few short months on their wedding day.

Gary and Sage were married at "The Old Church" downtown and then held a reception at Abernethy Center in Oregon City. The rain was pouring all day long which was threatening to ruin plans to get out and capture the beautiful fall colors. Thankfully, the clouds parted for a brief moment and allowed us to get outside for some photos. Once we headed over to the reception, we got to work with our favorite guy again - Shawn Whittemore of Event Team Entertainment. He always makes the party happen! The day was full of fall colors and fun moments between this sweet couple. Congrats Gary and Sage!

Jennifer + Rick's wedding

Jennifer and Rick were married at the gorgeous Garden Vineyards this fall. The day was sunny, the bride was stunning, and the guests brought the fun all day long! This was a fantastic mix of people! Add in Shawn Whittemore of Even Team Northwest and you have an amazing party that went late into the night. This was a wedding that I would have wanted to be a guest at for sure. We had a great time working with Jen, Rick and all of their friends and family. It was a great way to wrap up a wonderful summer.

Amy and I go back, way back, like we met at age 11 way back when. Amy has been my best friend since I can remember. We have gone through a lot in life, watching each other change and grow. We have been living in different states since graduating high school so we don't get to see enough of each other. Amy is now 8 months pregnant with her first baby! I made a quick trip out to Montana to see her last weekend. While I was there I took some portraits. She looks amazing! I can't wait to meet the little one in just a couple months.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Brian and Courtney since my college days back at Oregon State. I knew them before they were even engaged! I photographed their engagement, wedding and just this past week, I met their son Braeden and photographed their new family. I loved their matching shoes! So perfect. Dan and Allie were married at the Oregon Garden just outside of Salem. It is such a fantastic venue! There is not one bad angle to photograph from. The weekend of their wedding was a little too rainy, so they had to move the ceremony indoors. Fortunately it was sunny and gorgeous outside before the ceremony when we took photos. Then as soon as the ceremony began, it started to pour outside! Not the normal drizzle, but a full downpour! Thank goodness for back up plans! The creative Sue Hamilton of She Designs designed, set up and coordinated the day. She makes the most beautiful weddings happen. I loved every detail. The day was fun and full of colorful moments! I'm so happy we got to be apart of Dan and Allie's big day!

Heather + Al's wedding

Heather and Al were married at The Grotto. It is one of my favorite churches to photograph in. The property outside of the cathedral is even better. If you haven't been, I suggest taking an afternoon and walking around the gorgeous grounds. There are tall trees, manicured lawns and beautiful flowers everywhere. You can't go wrong with photos there! After the ceremony, everyone headed over to the reception at Edgefield McMenamins to party late into the night. We LOVED working with Heather and Al, they are such down to earth, easy going and sweet people. They are also really creative with things like the chalkboards that were passed around for guests to leave notes. I like this idea so much that I might buy some of my own clackboards for next year's weddings.

Mic + Kate's engagement

Here are some photos from Mic and Kate's engagement shoot in NW Portland. We did a little bit of shooting in the Pearl District around the office. Then we headed up the hill to capture some fall colors. Mic and Kate told me that they wanted to find a playground for the shoot. I didn't think much of it at first, but once we were at Couch City Park, they explained to me that they always find playgrounds in whatever city they go to. It is a tradition! The playground we found at Couch City Park was pretty awesome! I have walked by it several times, but stopping to play was so fun. Sometimes we forget these small pleasures in life sometimes so it was nice to be reminded. Mic and Kate are only 2 1/2 months away from their Lake Tahoe wedding, I can't wait to photograph it!

Shawn and I met up with Sophia and Tam at the Hoyt Arboretum for their engagement shoot. Seeing as it is an arboretum, there are trees all over the place! We had a ton of beautiful backdrops to choose from and couldn't help but love the beautiful leaves all over the ground. I LOVE this time of year for photo shoots! It's by far my favorite! Sophia and Tam are really sweet together. They keep each other laughing and smiling. We're really looking forward to their big day next summer, it's going to be a fun one to photograph!

Katie & Josh's Mount Hood wedding

Katie and Josh were married on top of Mount Hood this past summer. Their ceremony was one of the most intimate, personal and emotional ceremonies I have ever been to. They had 9 people in attendance. They stood in a circle and each person had an opportunity to speak about the couple, give them advice, sing or read something they wrote. Tears were flowing as their families joined and celebrated this lovely couple. It was an amazing moment and I'm thankful we were invited to document it. After the ceremony, we all headed across the highway to Mount Hood Ski Bowl for some fun. Josh and I rode up in front of the bride and groom, and then waited at the bottom of the slope for them to ride down the alpine slide. Everyone dressed up in silly outfits to make the day a little more fun. Here is a selection of our favorite shots from the day...

Brenna's portrait shoot

Here is yet another couple that has kept in touch over the years. I photographed Megan and Larry's engagement and wedding a couple years back. Now they have sweet little Brenna in their family. I photographed Brenna at a few months old so it was quite a shock to see how grown up she is in just over a year! We headed over to Laurelhurst Park just in time to capture some leaves before they were all swept away. Brenna was so great despite the cold weather, she kept smiling and loved playing with the colorful leaves.

Matt and I go waaayy back. Matt lived up the street from me since I was 6 years old. We went to school together from first grade up through graduating high school. Matt is a talented artist and we spent many an afternoon in the same art classes. Thank goodness for online sites like Facebook that can connect you with friends and classmates. Matt moved up here to Oregon and saw that I was a wedding photographer on my profile. He contacted me as soon as he proposed to Anna this summer and now I get to photograph their wedding next summer! For the shoot we walked around Washington Park and finished at the Union Station where our office is. Can't wait for the wedding, It'll be fun to catch up with old friends and classmates.
